SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Old Spanish Days events are free, but performers and their parents cover plenty of costs.
The parents of female dancers said they pay about $350 per custom-made dress for Fiesta performances, and that does not include the material.
Host Drew Wakefield with the Cork and Fork 805 radio show (1290 AM) launched a Fiesta-style party at the legendary Joe's Cafe with an outside show, giveaways, interviews and two entertaining dances. Those were performed by the 2021 Spirit of Fiesta Ysabella Yturralde and the Junior Spirit Savannah Hoover.
SANTA BARBARA — The Spirit of Fiesta and Junior Spirit of Fiesta will dance during the “Cork And Fork Radio 805 with Drew Wakefield,” airing live July 30 at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, Chomp on the Rocks and Salty at the Beach.
The event was hosted by “Cork and Fork Radio 805,” which was broadcasting live on KZSB, AM 1290, the News-Press radio station. Members of the public were invited to come out and enjoy lunch and an Old Spanish Days-themed show at the Santa Barbara Harbor.
